Our Services

Fertility Evaluation

When you first meet with Dr. Borkowski for an initial consultation, she will ask you for a complete history. After getting to know you, she will schedule an infertility evaluation which includes exams and tests to try to find the reason why you and your partner have not gotten pregnant. The tests for infertility include blood work for hormones such as thyroid-stimulating hormone, prolactin level, follicle-stimulating hormone, estradiol, and antimullerian hormone. An imaging study of the uterus and tubes called a hysterosonogram will be scheduled to check the anatomy of the uterine cavity and patency of the fallopian tubes. Finally, a semen analysis will be ordered to check for any male factor issues.

Intrauterine Insemination

Intrauterine insemination is a fertility treatment that involves placing prepared sperm directly into a woman’s uterus around the time of ovulation. The goal of an IUI is to increase the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increase the chance of conceiving. Sperm can be used from a partner or from an anonymous donor. Although an IUI can be performed during a natural cycle, many studies show that in order to significantly improve pregnancy rates, it must be performed in conjunction with ovulation medications such as clomiphene citrate or human menopausal gonadotropins.

If you want to learn more about the IUI process, give us a call today.

INVOCell

INVOCell is an intravaginal culture system that is used as an IVF alternative for the treatment of infertility. The treatment process using INVOcell is very similar to conventional IVF except that fertilization and early embryo development happens inside the device in the vaginal as opposed to in the laboratory. For those who want a more “natural approach” to IVF, this is a viable alternative. Because the lab is not used to incubate the embryos, INVOcell also can be done at a significantly lower price than conventional IVF.

If you are interested in hearing more about INVOcell, we’d love to answer your questions.

In Vitro Fertilization

In vitro fertilization is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) that begins with extracting multiple eggs from a woman’s ovaries. The eggs are then cleaned and either manually combined with sperm and allowed to fertilize on their own, or injected with sperm (intracytoplasmic sperm injection; ICSI). The intended result is the development of embryos which are then incubated to the blastocyst stage (5 days) in the laboratory. At the end of the 5 day period, all good quality embryos are graded and then either placed into the patient’s uterus or frozen for use in another cycle. IVF is the treatment of choice for many infertility problems such as tubal damage, ovulation disorders, male factor, endometriosis, previous sterilization, genetic disorders, LGBTQ family building, and when other procedures have failed. IVF is used extensively around the world and has the highest success rate of all ART procedures.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing

Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) is a diagnostic test used during in vitro fertilization to screen embryos for genetic disorders that can cause infertility, miscarriages and birth defects. The genetic testing is preformed by removing a small group of cells from a developing embryo and then analyzing the DNA of those cells for genetic disorders. This allows for the transfer of prescreened, genetically normal embryos to be replaced into the uterus thus lowering the chances of implantation failure, miscarriages and birth defects. PGT is recommended for patients with a long history of unexplained infertility, patients who are carriers of known genetic disorders, patients with a history of multiple miscarriages, patients with a family history of genetic disorders, and patients who are over 35 years old.

If you are interested in learning more about PGT, get in touch with North Shore Fertility.

Donor Eggs

The primary indications for donor eggs are premature ovarian failure, diminished ovarian reserve, multiple failed IVF attempts, and women carrying transmittable genetic disorders which could affect their offspring. North Shore Fertility has a very close relationship with the most reputable egg donation agencies in the country and can help you through the process of choosing an egg donor. Although donor eggs can be retrieved from a live donor, the more recent development of frozen egg banks across the country has become a very attractive option to patients who have already gone through years of unsuccessful infertility treatments. These patients do not want to go through another lengthy process. Frozen donor eggs have already been retrieved from highly screened donors and are ready to be shipped and used immediately. Frozen donor eggs are also a much more affordable option for IVF compared to fresh eggs.

Do you think donor eggs may be an option for you?

Donor Sperm

Couples use donor sperm when the partner has no sperm, has very low semen parameters, or when a genetic problem carried on sperm could be transmitted to a child. Single women who want a biological child, as well as LGBTQ couples, also use donor sperm. Donor sperm can come from a man known to the recipient (known donor) or from an anonymous man (anonymous donor). Using anonymous donor sperm is a much quicker and more cost-effective process as the donor has already been screened medically. The sperm has also been analyzed, frozen, and is ready to be shipped. North Shore Fertility has a longstanding relationship with several frozen donor sperm banks across the country and can help you through the process of choosing and using donated sperm.

If this option is for you, we will help you get started.

Egg Freezing

Egg freezing, also known as oocyte cryopreservation, is a method used to save a woman’s ability to get pregnant in the future. It is often used to delay childbearing as well as prior to radiation or chemotherapy for cancer. The process involves taking fertility medications for about a week to help with the growth of multiple eggs. The eggs are then retrieved from the ovaries, frozen, and stored for later use. Since the eggs have not been fertilized by sperm they can be thawed in the future and fertilized with known or anonymous, fresh or frozen sperm, allowing for multiple future options. Although the overall chance of becoming pregnant from frozen eggs is very good, the younger a woman is when she freezes her eggs, the higher the chance that those eggs will eventually result in a pregnancy.

Patient Testimonials

I have never met any other doctor who is as caring, attentive, positive, and professional as Dr. Borkowski. My husband and I went to see Dr. Borkowski after having a bad experience at another fertility clinic, and we are so incredibly glad that we did! Dr. Borkowski made us feel comfortable and at ease right away. She sat down with us the first time we met to get to know us, explain the IVF process, make a plan with us, and answer any of our questions. She was there with us every step of the way, and she was always available to call or text on her cell phone with any questions we had, which always helped put me at ease. Dr. Borkowski made me feel so much more positive and hopeful during this experience than I would have with any other doctor. Before every procedure during the IVF process, Dr. Borkowski came to talk to us to ask if we had any questions and to explain what was going to happen during the procedure.

Not only is Dr. Borkowski an amazing doctor, but the entire team at Northshore Fertility is also amazing. Jennifer is kind, attentive, and professional. She was always available to answer my questions. Lettie is always warm and welcoming. Venus is very nice and approachable. Everyone at the office makes you feel like you belong there and is easy to talk to.

Without Dr. Borkowski and the amazing team at Northshore Fertility, my husband and I would not be expecting our first baby this June! We are so thankful that we went to Northshore Fertility, and I would recommend anyone who is struggling with fertility to go here.

Thank you Dr. Borkowski.

Just wanted to let you know how much my wife and I appreciated your down to earth and encouraging manner through the whole fertility process. We tried IVF twice and even though the first time didn’t work out, the second time did and we are just SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY that we decided to try a second time. I honestly don’t if we would have without Dr. Borkowski encouraging words. Just wanted to take the time to thank you and your staff from the bottom of our hearts. Our gorgeous little boy is now 19 months old and can’t believe that just a few years ago we didn’t think it would even be possible to have kids at our age.

We highly recommend going here.

I love this office.

The Doctor is extremely smart, kind and down to Earth. The entire staff is welcoming and make a stressful process less intimidating. I was surprised when the Dr. got back to me personally right away after I had spoken to her nurse. That has NEVER happened with any Dr. I’ve ever dealt with before. Dr. Borkowski helped us conceive our miracle son and we are grateful. If you are struggling with infertility, this is a great place to find help and answers.

The doctor and Jennifer are always amazing and take the time to explain everything to you.  I know when I am dealing with this office that I always feel like we matter. You never feel like a number at Northshore fertility. This place is awesome and you won’t regret letting them help you with your infertility issues. The Dr. is a warm friendly person, beautiful inside and out, and her intelligence will impress you. I am very happy we worked with this office.

Bottom line is this: They are smart and caring and did a great job. We were a difficult case and they were able to help us get pregnant on our first try. Dr. Borkowski made us feel comfortable and we trust her.

Granted, one of the reviewers already wrote this, I am going to say it again…Dr. Borkowski is literally like a breath of fresh air. From her office ambiance to her approach, Dr. Borkowski makes you feel human. Infertility is challenging in itself, and sadly there are so many specialist out there that forget that. Not this doctor! She stays true to the foundation of being in the medical field and she shows compassion and concern. Her knowledge and approach had me on cloud nine when I walked out. Not because I am guaranteed a child, but I am guaranteed a doctor and her staff who will not drop the ball on you! And sometimes….that is the next best thing!

I adore Dr. Borkowski and her staff. She’s kind, attentive, positive, and knowledgeable. It’s important to have a reassuring voice in a stressful time. Her bedside manner is impeccable and she never seems rushed when I have questions- and there have been a lot of questions.
Her nurse Jennifer is equally outstanding.
She is just wonderful at what she does.

Jennifer is so sweet to always talk to my son at my appointments too. He loves her.
I have no doubt Dr. Borkowski and her staff will help us on our dream to get pregnant again.

If you’re looking for a small office that cares about their patients, this is it. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them!
